South America 2017

Part 1 of our 2017 around the world trip was a guided tour from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Lima, Peru with G Adventures.  As a Spanish graduate, I was VERY excited to use my Spanish in a new country and see more varieties of Hispanic culture other than that of Spain. We had a group of 15 for the first leg and 18 for the second and each time we had a Peruvian guide who took us between each place, gave us loads of information about everyday life and history and geography in each country and were there for us if we had any problems.  We experienced many different climates as we visited places from 0m to 5,100m above sea level (altitude sickness becomes a risk above 2,000m) and we saw some of the most amazing geographical formations that the world has to offer.  I have so many fond memories from this trip including the people I met, the experience of being caught in a natural disaster, tasting local cuisines, new activities that I tried for the first time and, my favourite day of the trip: finishing the Inca Trail and arriving at Machu Picchu.  I am already desperate to go back and I’m praying that one day I can find a job that will send me all over the continent to see more!
